About Jessi

“As they become known to and accepted by us, our feelings and the honest exploration of them become sanctuaries and spawning grounds for the most radical and daring of ideas."

Jessi Heneghan stands in front of a tree

Jessi loves being a therapist and believes it is sacred work to be trusted with the truth of another's vulnerability, story, and hopes. She has been a psychotherapist for 20 years and is a mother, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Reiki Master. Jessi has a passion for working with adults with relational/complex trauma, grief, cycle breakers, evolving identities, parents, therapists, midlife discoveries and shifting priorities, and all those yearning to walk a more authentic path. Jessi has expertise in supporting those navigating the complexity of divorce, acute and chronic health conditions, neurodivergence, and those parenting children with multilayered needs. She understands the nuance and hurt that comes with having family members with mental health and addiction struggles and the pain of family estrangement. She has expertise and comfort with polyamory, non-traditional relationship and family styles, and is kink informed. Jessi has a commitment to being an accomplice in anti-racism work and the LGBTQ++ community, working with accountability partners to continue learning and growing.

Jessi has received extensive training and consultation in several different therapy modalities over her 20 years of work as a trauma psychotherapist. She draws most heavily on her expertise in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Polyvagal Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Filial Therapy. Jessi has completed EMDR training and is currently working toward certification with EMDRIA.

In addition to her private psychotherapy practice, Jessi has worked as a Therapist and Mindfulness Coordinator at an elite university counseling center, Clinical Director in a group therapy practice, Personal Counselor in an international school, Mindfulness and Meditation Instructor, School-based Therapist for marginalized and high-risk students, and in psychiatric hospitals. For many years, Jessi held certification as a Registered Play Therapist & Supervisor and now uses that experience with her clients who are also parents.

When not seeing clients, Jessi can be found reading one of the many books on her nightstand, driving and cheering on her children at their different activities, exploring the outdoors, snuggling with her two rescue dogs, participating in justice advocacy, working in her little garden, and laughing and creating rituals with her dearest people.
