Co-Parent Counseling
Parenting is tremendously challenging, and striving to
do it well with a former partner is even more nuanced
and complicated than most can (or want to) imagine.
Jessi draws on her 20 years of providing adult, child,
and family therapy and knowledge of the trials of
divorce to help co-parents work together in developing
the practices that will best support their children.
Co-parent Counseling is very different from Couples or
Relationship Therapy. Co-parent Counseling is strictly
focused on supporting the needs of the shared child
or children while improving the dynamics between
co-parents, without focusing on past or present romantic
relationships. Co-parent Counseling can include helping
parents prepare to tell children about separation or
divorce, constructing a therapeutic parenting plan, navigating conflict around a specific parenting decision, as well as working with parents to support their children to thrive in different households. Jessi believes strongly that children deserve and can have healthy and happy relationships with those in separate households even when the adults do not like each other. Co-parent Counseling can be done with individual parents, divorced/separated co-parents, nested partners, or an entire parenting team. Co-parenting Counseling can be especially useful in navigating conflict and uncertainty in times of transition including divorce, re-partnering, blending families, and new developmental needs of children. Jessi works with co-parents in all stages of family life, including pre-separation and parenting adult children. Sessions are available as standard 50 minute sessions as well as intensives of 3-5 hours.
